SoGoSurvey vs. SurveyMonkey

How to design surveys” is becoming a popular online search topic as online surveys offer a unique platform for businesses of all sizes and structures to connect with customers and prospects. With so many social networking sites, it’s now easy to share information, with online survey tools one of the preferred methods.
In the last few years, we have seen the emergence of numerous options for survey design and sharing, using tools that are easy and practically free. These players have all been competing to receive maximum coverage and traffic. As is typically the case, a select few have prospered, while others have fallen.

Two companies emerging as the top contenders are SoGoSurvey and SurveyMonkey. While both offer similar design options, each has a different objective and takes a different approach. In an attempt to win a monopoly, SurveyMonkey has spent considerable money acquiring smaller online survey players. SoGoSurvey, on the other hand, is using its decade-long experience in the technical and scientific survey business to focus more on offering a high-end technical product, without the distraction of chasing online popularity.

Based on some rough analysis, SoGoSurvey appears to be lagging behind in its marketing and advertising efforts, whereas SurveyMonkey is the most sought-out product from a branding prospective. But the proliferation of social media has introduced challenges and opportunities, with a socially friendly and customer-centric product the ultimate objective. From a user experience point of view, each product stands apart from the other. SoGoSurvey offers robust sharing and reporting tools, whereas SurveyMonkey offers quick customer service through their social media platforms.

In the race to reach the top spot, both of these players are taking the necessary steps to reach out to their customers and attract maximum traffic.

  2. Hi, nice to see a comparison between SoGoSurvey and Survey Monkey here as i am doing a research on survey tools and my main concern was that many of the reviews or comparisons were about many other tools too. http://goo.gl/l2PmP showed me how and what they report.

  3. SoGoSurvey's pricing structure is also much better then that of Survey Monkey. With SoGoSurvey you can be billed monthly or annually with the ability to cancel at anytime. Survey Monkey's prices rise dramatically if you are not on an annual plan. Overall SoGoSurvey seems like a better value for the features you get.

  4. I have used both the online survey software and love the way the author has compared the two. I would like to add here though that SoGoSurvey gets extra brownie points over the other for its quick customer service. Survey Monkey on the other hand doesn't care much for its customers once they have registered.

  5. Hi Jasmine & Laura !!! I too reviewed some of the posts done by many users of SM and the common complaint was with their Customer Support. I wonder which one to opt for? SM of sogo??

  6. I would also recommend SoGoSurvey over SurveyMonkey. I have spent several hours signing up for paid accounts with both today and in the end asked for a refund from SurveyMonkey.

I assumed that having signed up for a paid account I would be able to brand the survey as my own, but SurveyMonkey's survey kept some very aggressive SM branding in place throughout the survey - including very prominent calls to action saying things like "click here to create your free online survey now!" right next to the 'next' buttons leading my customers to the next survey question. To be honest I couldn't believe it.

Finally, upon survey completion, customers were taken to a massive SurveyMonkey landing page, again trying to get my customers to sign up to their service. I am emailing a list of 25000 people, and I was about to effectively pay SurveyMonkey for the privilege of emailing them a SurveyMonkey advertisement! It would be completely acceptable on a free service - but the only option for me to remove the link and send people to my own hosted thank you page at the end of the survey was to pay $700 dollars for a year's enterprise level account.

It's pretty clear to me where SurveyMonkey's priorities lie, and that is with large coporate clients and not small businesses and start-ups.

I'm much happier with the pricing and features of the SoGoSurvey package I have bought and the customer service has been truly excellent. Highly recommended.

  7. Survey is a method of gathering data form the common people about a thing. It provides the correct idea about the things. It will really help a lot of people. I shared it with my friends on Facebook and Twitter. Thanks admin for this post.

  8. I was a SurveyMonkey user. Their support is awful. They make no effort to actually answer your questions and if they do, they take ages.

SoGoSurvey has the best support staff. Wonderful people who will go to any lengths to answer your questions as soon as they can and make sure that there are NO problems in your survey. They blew me away with their amazing support. Kudos to them! :)

  9. I can only concur with the reviews here. SurveyMonkey is truly aimed at satisfying the large clients who pay the highest price. On the other hand, SoGoSurvey actually stimulates students and helps you make your survey as user-friendly as possible.

  10. I must agree that I wasn't too impressed with survey monkey's customer service. Sogosurvey has good customer service reviews, however I didn't like their interface too much.

I use a company called survey moz now (http://www.surveymoz.com) Their interface is simple to use and they have great customer service. It's a win win tool really.
